More than 1,284,000 Americans will be diagnosed with cancer this year, and about 1,500 of us die from cancer each day. With a strong dedication to join the battle against cancer, the Stiles Program in Integrative Oncology is a unit of UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Program is dedicated to bring together the best in modern-day and age-old medicine to provide improved health services and education for the benefit of the greater Los Angeles community. Specific goals of the Program in Integrative Oncology include:
- Provide education and information to patients and physicians in the community on the anticancer efficacy and safety of complementary medicines and practices.
- Initiate scientific, evidence-based testing in the clinic on the efficacy and safety of complementary medicine.
- Develop laboratory-based technologies for selecting novel plant-derived and natural products for specific cancer therapy or prevention.
Population Served
The Stiles Program in Integrative Oncology has wide appeal as a community resource for information, education and new treatment development for adults and children afflicted with cancer or at risk for malignancy.
